The meeting actually happened today, and it went well! I focused on your tips for combating nerves by showing genuine interest and listening attentively to what they had to say. It made a huge difference in fostering a natural connection. I was also pleasantly surprised by how true your point was about people being willing to help; the recreation coordinator even invited me to reach out if I had further questions or needed interview tips in the future.

I’ve really appreciated the chance to take so many helpful classes from WorkBC. While I have a professional background of teaching in the US many years ago, I don’t actually have the degree that Canada would require. So I’m in the middle of figuring out what education I want to pursue and what I want to do for stable income in this next chapter of my life. Being able to connect with these courses and learn from people like you is helping restore my confidence while bringing me up to date on what it’s like to job hunt in 2025. The last time I had to submit a portfolio or do an interview was before the internet was much of a major thing, so I’d been feeling a little like a dinosaur. You all are helping me feel ready to tackle a new chapter in life.

I just wanted to give you some feedback. I originally attended a workshop with you on networking and I found it valuable. I actually ended up securing full time employment prior to this seminar but still attended as I thought it was a valuable use of my time. You were pretty engaging in a situation which can be tough (via Teams, no cameras, transient group), and you kept me interested in the topic.

Hi James, I just wanted to write you an email because I learned about the bc future skills grant through 1 of your workbc workshops so I decided to apply to the dental office admin course in OC through it and my application was accepted today. Thank you very much for mentioning the grant through the workshop. 

Thank you for your help James. It’s been a weight lifted, knowing that I have somewhere to start. I’ll be sure to keep those lines in mind when the interview stage comes around. 

I thought that my idea for a cover letter was better than his idea, but after taking a second workshop with him, I now believe he is right. His knowledge transmits a greater sense of surety about making the right impression on employers the more I hear him speak.

Learning a language is hard enough. In the service industry that welcomes visitors from all directions, understanding different cultures and traditions is particularly critical.
When I opened this book, I was surprised to see the first chapter of “Cultural Differences” and found that editors used this spirit of not only learning languages, but also understanding and understanding industry culture throughout the entire textbook. (translated from Chinese)
